Sherwood Park Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Sherwood Park specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles typical medical school and as a matter of fact various podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive medical training with an emphasis on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are skilled to handle problems ranging from normal afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those issues that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against a large number of complications which the feet regularly experience.
