Beaumont Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Beaumont focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend about a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received significant healthcare training with a main focus on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to address issues ranging from familiar disorders such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more sophisticated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the expertise necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against a large number of issues which the feet generally experience.
