Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received encompassing medical education with an emphasis on conditions involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to manage difficulties ranging from typical ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical training which provide them the prior experience needed to perform surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet routinely experience.
