Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have gained thorough health care training with a stress on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to address problems stretching from familiar conditions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which furnish them the experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and help prevent countless conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
