Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and actually numerous podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained thorough healthcare training with a concentration on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to care for difficulties extending from simple disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical education which supply them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet frequently encounter.
