Fort McMurray Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists spend around a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to regular medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have acquired significant medical education with a focus on problems regarding the feet and ankles. They are trained to manage conditions extending from commonplace disorders like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which give them the skill essential to perform surgery on those troubles that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous conditions which the feet generally encounter.
