Edmonton North Side Clinic (Northgate) Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Edmonton North Side Clinic (Northgate) provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend about a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and several podiatry programmes are located within these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received encompassing health care instruction with a stress on issues regarding the ankles and feet. They are studied to deal with difficulties ranging from commonplace problems like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the expertise vital to carry out surgery on those concerns that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet generally experience.
