Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Chestermere focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programmes lie within these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained extensive health care instruction with an emphasis on complications regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to treat difficulties ranging from regular ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical training which provide them the expertise vital to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet regularly experience.
