Fort Saskatchewan Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Fort Saskatchewan specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend about ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and numerous podiatry programs are contained within these institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained significant medical training with a stress on problems involving the feet and ankles. They are skilled to care for difficulties ranging from standard disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the prior experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many problems which the feet frequently experience.
