Fort Saskatchewan Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Fort Saskatchewan concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained comprehensive health care education with an attention to on concerns pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to address concerns stretching from usual ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience necessary to execute surgery on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems permits a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many conditions which the feet routinely encounter.
