Calgary Downtown Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Calgary Downtown focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to regular medical school and numerous podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive health care education with an importance on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to treat problems ranging from usual ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the skill essential to perform surgery on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against a large number of issues which the feet routinely experience.
