Calgary Signal Hill Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Calgary Signal Hill focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote about ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have gained wide-ranging health care training with an importance on issues involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to care for problems extending from familiar problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of issues which the feet frequently encounter.
