Medicine Hat Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Medicine Hat focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained substantial medical training with a main focus on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to care for problems extending from simple conditions for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which furnish them the experience needed to conduct surgery on those complications that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against numerous complications which the feet usually experience.
