Medicine Hat Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Medicine Hat focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists spend about a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received significant medical training with a stress on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are trained to address problems stretching from commonplace problems such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical training which supply them the prior experience needed to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of countless issues which the feet generally encounter.
