Medicine Hat Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Medicine Hat specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality many podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive healthcare education with an importance on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to treat problems extending from usual ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the skill vital to carry out surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of problems which the feet routinely experience.
