Lacombe Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Lacombe specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programs are located within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained considerable medical training with a stress on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are educated to care for complications extending from general problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which provide them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and help prevent countless issues which the feet routinely encounter.
