Fort McMurray - River City Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - River City specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and a number of podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained significant medical instruction with an importance on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to care for conditions stretching from normal afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which give them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities empowers a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid a large number of complications which the feet regularly encounter.
