Fort McMurray - River City Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - River City focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend around a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programmes are located within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive health care training with a focus on conditions involving the feet and ankles. They are studied to treat complications stretching from common afflictions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which give them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those complications that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid many conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
