Fort McMurray - River City Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - River City specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote around 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have gained thorough healthcare education with an emphasis on conditions regarding the ankles and feet. They are studied to deal with complications extending from standard problems for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which give them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those troubles that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of complications which the feet normally encounter.
