Calgary North Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Calgary North concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received considerable medical training with an emphasis on problems involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to deal with issues stretching from commonplace ailments such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which give them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those issues that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and help prevent countless conditions which the feet routinely experience.
