Calgary North Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Calgary North focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs lie inside these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received substantial medical training with an importance on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are trained to care for issues ranging from normal disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the skill necessary to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet generally encounter.
