Calgary North Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Calgary North focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired significant medical instruction with an emphasis on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to care for problems varying from conventional disorders for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which give them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous conditions which the feet normally encounter.
