Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Calgary Beddington provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality a number of podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained significant healthcare training with an emphasis on issues regarding the feet and ankles. They are studied to care for problems stretching from usual ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the experience crucial to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous complications which the feet regularly experience.
