Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Calgary Beddington specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in around 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programmes are located within these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained significant medical training with a focus on complications concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address issues ranging from typical problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against many conditions which the feet usually encounter.
