Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Calgary Sunpark provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have gained extensive health care instruction with an attention to on difficulties involving the feet and ankles. They are trained to deal with complications ranging from standard ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which give them the expertise necessary to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid a large number of complications which the feet typically encounter.
