Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Calgary Beddington concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in an average of a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received significant health care training with an attention to on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to treat concerns varying from basic problems for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which give them the practical experience necessary to execute surgery on those troubles that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against many conditions which the feet typically encounter.
