Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Calgary Beddington provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained thorough medical education with a stress on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are instructed to handle conditions ranging from regular afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical training which furnish them the practical experience required to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet commonly encounter.
