Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Calgary Beddington specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They invest about a decade in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and actually several podiatry programs lie within these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received encompassing medical instruction with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to manage issues ranging from typical conditions like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the experience essential to conduct surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and help prevent numerous issues which the feet usually encounter.
