Edmonton Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Edmonton specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote about ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programs are located within these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained thorough health care instruction with a concentration on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to treat problems varying from common ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical instruction which supply them the skill needed to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent a large number of complications which the feet usually experience.
