Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually many podiatry programs are located within these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained considerable healthcare training with an attention to on problems regarding the feet and ankles. They are trained to manage problems ranging from conventional conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which give them the expertise essential to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet frequently experience.
