Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend around 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained substantial medical education with a main focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to deal with difficulties ranging from simple problems like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more intricate for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which give them the prior experience crucial to perform surgery on those issues that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
