Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles typical medical school and in fact various podiatry programs lie within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained extensive healthcare training with a main focus on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are trained to handle issues varying from normal problems for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more puzzling like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical training which provide them the experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet commonly encounter.
