Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained considerable healthcare training with a concentration on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to handle difficulties extending from general ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the practical experience needed to execute surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against many complications which the feet normally encounter.
