Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging medical instruction with an attention to on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to care for issues ranging from familiar afflictions such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical education which provide them the experience needed to carry out surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet generally encounter.
