Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and actually numerous podiatry programs are located within these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired considerable healthcare training with a main focus on complications regarding the feet and ankles. They are trained to handle complications extending from typical afflictions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which provide them the skill essential to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent numerous problems which the feet commonly encounter.
