Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in reality a number of podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired encompassing medical education with a main focus on conditions concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to deal with issues ranging from typical conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which furnish them the expertise necessary to execute surgery on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against many complications which the feet normally encounter.
