Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in reality various podiatry programmes are contained inside these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing medical training with an importance on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to care for difficulties ranging from conventional disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the experience essential to perform surgery on those troubles that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet commonly encounter.
