Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained substantial medical instruction with an emphasis on issues concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to deal with conditions extending from commonplace disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the experience necessary to carry out surgery on those conditions that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against many troubles which the feet normally encounter.
