Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in reality many podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired considerable healthcare training with an emphasis on difficulties involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to address complications stretching from normal ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical training which provide them the expertise needed to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of countless complications which the feet regularly encounter.
