Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote an average of a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received substantial medical training with an emphasis on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to care for problems ranging from familiar problems such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which give them the practical experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Foot doctor to create footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and prevent a large number of complications which the feet typically encounter.
