Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive healthcare training with an attention to on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to manage problems varying from basic ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which provide them the skill necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and prevent many problems which the feet typically experience.
