Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs are contained inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical training with an emphasis on complications concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to treat conditions stretching from normal conditions like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the experience required to conduct surgical treatment on those conditions that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against many problems which the feet regularly encounter.
