Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest around 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired extensive health care education with an importance on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are educated to handle problems stretching from simple problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which supply them the prior experience required to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and prevent many troubles which the feet usually encounter.
