Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually numerous podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received considerable medical training with a focus on issues concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to handle difficulties varying from familiar disorders for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which provide them the skill needed to conduct surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent a large number of issues which the feet commonly encounter.
