Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors put in approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are contained inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have obtained encompassing medical instruction with a concentration on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to handle difficulties ranging from basic disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which supply them the experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of many troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
