Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received considerable health care instruction with an emphasis on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to handle concerns ranging from common afflictions for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which provide them the skill essential to perform surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of countless complications which the feet commonly encounter.
