They spend around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles typical medical school and in reality many podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received extensive health care instruction with an emphasis on concerns concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to deal with concerns extending from familiar problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of countless problems which the feet generally experience.
