Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained thorough health care instruction with a stress on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. They are trained to manage problems ranging from conventional problems for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical instruction which give them the prior experience crucial to perform surgery on those complications that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against many complications which the feet normally encounter.
