Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote around a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.
At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired significant medical training with a concentration on problems regarding the ankles and feet. They are qualified to treat difficulties varying from typical problems such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which supply them the prior experience necessary to execute surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.
Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems empowers a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and prevent many conditions which the feet usually experience.
