Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained substantial healthcare training with a stress on issues regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to treat conditions varying from common conditions for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which give them the experience necessary to execute surgery on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet normally experience.
