Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in about a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired extensive health care training with a concentration on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to treat conditions extending from standard disorders for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience crucial to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and avoid a large number of issues which the feet regularly encounter.
