Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of ten years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received extensive medical training with a main focus on issues concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to care for problems ranging from common problems for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which provide them the experience required to execute surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid countless complications which the feet usually experience.
