Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and several podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained wide-ranging healthcare education with an emphasis on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are taught to manage problems varying from usual afflictions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which supply them the expertise necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid countless troubles which the feet frequently encounter.
