Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received substantial medical education with an attention to on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. They are skilled to treat complications ranging from normal afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which give them the practical experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent numerous conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
