Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired significant health care instruction with an importance on complications involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to care for concerns extending from regular conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience essential to conduct surgery on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid countless conditions which the feet routinely encounter.
