Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry programs are located inside these schools. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired substantial healthcare training with an attention to on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to deal with complications varying from familiar problems for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which give them the prior experience crucial to execute surgery on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet normally encounter.
