Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend about a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programs are contained within these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive healthcare training with a stress on complications regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to manage concerns varying from typical afflictions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which give them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet usually encounter.
