Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in point of fact various podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive health care education with a main focus on complications involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to address problems ranging from regular ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the experience vital to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and help prevent a large number of issues which the feet frequently encounter.
