Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and actually several podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired considerable medical training with a concentration on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. They are educated to address issues varying from typical afflictions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which furnish them the expertise required to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of complications which the feet regularly experience.
