Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote about 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and actually several podiatry programs are located within these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired encompassing health care training with an importance on concerns involving the feet and ankles. They are studied to address problems ranging from commonplace problems for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which provide them the expertise necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against many problems which the feet routinely encounter.
