Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have obtained comprehensive health care education with an emphasis on complications concerning the feet and ankles. They are educated to handle concerns stretching from normal ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which supply them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and help prevent numerous problems which the feet commonly encounter.
