Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired considerable healthcare training with a stress on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to care for conditions ranging from typical problems for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which supply them the prior experience necessary to carry out surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet frequently encounter.
