Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They devote approximately ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles typical medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are located within these schools. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained extensive medical education with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to manage conditions ranging from common afflictions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience needed to execute surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent many troubles which the feet typically encounter.
