Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have obtained substantial medical instruction with an importance on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to handle complications ranging from general disorders for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which furnish them the skill necessary to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and help prevent numerous conditions which the feet usually experience.
