Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest an average of ten years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and various podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received wide-ranging health care education with an emphasis on issues concerning the feet and ankles. They are educated to care for problems ranging from conventional disorders for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical education which give them the experience vital to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against many troubles which the feet frequently encounter.
